Southern Pickets

To get a good look at the Southern Picket range, Alissa and I did a quick backpacking trip to a nearby peak, The Roost. We took the Goodell Creek to Terror Basin approach. It was definitely an adventure with a handful of obstacles. 5k ft of elevation gain in ~3 miles, a pretty bushwacky trail, getting lost and having to backtrack, and an underground wasps nest that I accidentally stepped on… oops. But the view of the Pickets, all the other mountains around, the sunset, sunrise, and the sure sense of adventure made it all worth it! The next time I’m in this spot, I may just be on my way out of a full Pickets traverse…. maybe.
